Chinese MBSR for Seniors 正念解压课程(乐龄人士中文版)

April 30, 2018

Extremely grateful to partner with Yale-NUS to deliver the 8-week MBSR program in Mandarin (八周正念解压课程)to this group of seniors at Tembusu Seniors Activity Center. Some of the salient feedback were "mindfulness should have been introduced to us earlier!". Some seniors also shared how it has helped them managed their emotions and relationships with family members and others. The way they see things (for the past decades), changed, do change following the course.

With the aging population in Singapore, mindfulness will likely help to delay the cognitive abilities. It will also help the seniors live autonomous and meaningful lives.

Based on various statistics, 55% of workers in Singapore attribute stress as the main cause of negative mental health, and over one-third is losing sleep over worrying about work.

Growing body of research on Mindfulness has shown that practicing mindfulness can help one cope effectively with Stress.

Mindfulness for Beginners Workshop for the OTR Community

June 03, 2016

Grateful to conduct a Mindfulness for Beinners Workshop to the OTR (Over-the-Rainbow) community.

Based on publicly available statistics, the prevalence of poor mental health amongst Singapore residents is the highest amongst the 18-29 year olds.

OTR is a non profit organization in Singapore that advocates youth mental wellness, by offering talks, workshops and online community that offers online counselling to people. By empowering youths with practical, hands-on wellness strategies, OTR hopes to guide them on a journey of self-discovery and transformation so as to help them to reconnect with the core of their being, follow their heart, pursue their dreams, and fulfill their higher purpose in life.

Mindfulness Workshop for Foreign Domestic Workers Association

May 07, 2016

Grateful to conduct a Mindfulness Workshop to the Foreign Domestic Workers Association for Social Support and Training (FAST) in Singapore in conjunction with Mother's Day celebration.

There are around 230,000 FDWs living in Singapore as of 2015, coming from developing countries such as Philippines, Indonesia, Myanmar, India. Many left their families back home, including young children to work in Singapore, so as to earn money to support their own families. These FDWs live with their employer's family, most getting only a day off a month; definitely not easy in many ways. May Mindfulness help them in some ways to enhance their happiness and peace and may they enjoy their time here before the time is ripe for them to return to their home countries.
